She said that, unbeknownst to her, at the time she hired Hawley, he had already been featured in an episode of Cowboy Builders. The Channel 5 show, presented by Dominic Littlewood, aims to expose cowboy builders and help families and homes affected by them. In the episode, which aired in 2014, Dom met doctors Iain and Sarah Goodhart, who said they had been left out of pocket.

Sarah said: “It just went from bad to worse…”

The couple said in August 2012 that Hawley quoted them £58,000 for a double-storey extension – but the work was never completed. Iain described Hawley as “very outgoing, outgoing” and “looked the part” at first.
