Cornwall women target County Championship final at Twickenham

“In Division Two we’ve never been to a final so we’re still waiting for the next stage,” head coach Jo Holden told BBC Radio Cornwall.

“Telling the girls at the next stage that they will be playing at Twickenham on the green, green home turf, I think there is no better motivation for them to do that.

“We’ve got everyone doing their homework to watch Durham and see what we need to do and it’s going to be a big day on Sunday.”

After losing their opening game at home to Hampshire, Cornwall went on to record away wins at Hertfordshire and Somerset.

Defenseman Joey Sandercock says those road trips helped bond the team.

“This season has been one of the best – we’ve bonded so much as a team,” she told BBC Radio Cornwall.

“I think it helped that we had quite a few away games – we really bonded outside of the game and got to know each other really well.

“The support from each person – whether it’s the people on the sidelines or the people you play with – to work together and know that everyone is doing it for each other and not just for themselves is something with true special to be a part of. of.

“Whether it’s your first game or your sixth or seventh game, that feeling never goes away. It’s still such a special moment every time we step on that court in black and gold.”
