Turkish report claims Celtic want Manchester United international goalkeeper

Celtic are enjoying a lull in the off-season as speculation begins to mount over transfer targets.

Replacing Joe Hart will be high on Brendan Rodgers’ agenda, with several names mooted as potential alternatives to the former England international.

However, one man who won’t be moving to Parkhead this summer if reports are to be believed is Koen Casteels, who is set to join Saudi Arabian outfit Al Qasdiah on a free transfer from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has also been mentioned as an experienced candidate to fill the gap; Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s Viljami Sinisalo is a younger profile that the club could look to sign.

Either way, there is expected to be plenty of activity on the recruiting front, and now another rumor has emerged that will intrigue fans.

Turkish report notes Celtic interest in Altay Bayindir

Turkish outlet Aksam have reported that Celtic are keen to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who made just one appearance for the Red Devils against Newport County in the FA Cup (Transfermarkt).

The publication claimed that the Bhoys plan to offer the Turk a four-year international deal to move to Parkhead as he looks for more game time away from Old Trafford.

Picking up an FA Cup medal during his time at Manchester United, Bayindir is an imposing presence at 6ft 6in and made just under 150 appearances on the cards for Fenerbache before arriving in England.

However, it is unclear if there is any genuine substance behind the report, although it may be one to watch as the window progresses.

Celtic are set to be linked with a host of potential options to replace Hart, which will make for an interesting few months as anticipation builds for the new season.

Finding the right character to step into the shoes of the Englishman must be high on Rodgers’ list of priorities. Rest assured, the club will have already done their due diligence on this front.
