Godiva Festival 2024 needs a talented photographer from Coventry to join the snapper team

Godiva Festival is looking for a talented amateur photographer from Coventry to join the festival’s official snapper. The winner will receive what organizers say will be an “unforgettable day of capturing vibrant performances” at this year’s event.

They will be mentored for the day by official festival photographer Dave Archer and taught how to take their live event images to the next level. Dave has previously covered major events from Glastonbury Festival to Formula 1.

The winner will also receive two weekend passes to enjoy the rest of the festival. Entrants must be from Coventry or Warwickshire, over 18 years of age, have access to a professional room and have their own transport to travel to and from the event on Saturday 6th July.

Councilor Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council and Cabinet Member for Events, said: “I am delighted that we are opening this competition and giving a budding photographer the chance to work with one of our professionals. The winner will get to work with us on Saturday and see life behind the scenes and what it takes to get the photos we continue to use when presenting our festival.

“We love giving back to Coventry and this is just one of the many ways we do it. I look forward to seeing the entry photos and greeting our winner at the event. I’d like to wish everyone entering the best of luck.”

Professional photographer, Dave Archer, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to improve your real-life skills in creating images in the moment, with your camera at a close range, along with great access. It is very important as photographers to make the most of the opportunities and time to get the best images.”
