The last points of concern deduction; eminent former linked star; the irony of the former Leicester man

Foxes of Leicester are again covering three Leicester City media items. First, FoL looks at the latest concern about potential point deductions. Unfortunately, the East Midlands side risk almost double their Premier League penalty record. Meanwhile, a prominent former Manchester United player has been linked with the Foxes as the Blue Army await news of manager Enzo Maresca’s imminent exit. And on top of those topics, we report on a former LCFC star weighing in on the Italian’s imminent departure without a hint of irony or self-awareness.

Here at FoL we don’t usually dwell or comment too much on ex-Foxes. Although, I personally like to point out the hypocrisy, self-promotion and cynicism at play. So check this one out, it’s a gem!

Basically, Maddison – who is without a doubt one of the most talented LCFC midfielders we’ve ever seen – was asked about Maresca’s departure from Leicester. And the Tottenham Hotspur No.10’s response was a peach indeed, considering he went straight through the door rather than putting it out in the Championship.

I actually like Madders, he’s an ultra-talented footballer who doesn’t seem to take his serious job too seriously. However, there were always sly, conceited and vacuous elements to his persona on and off the field. These are ironically aspects that help make it world class. Anyway, what do you think of the current events at the King Power Stadium?

“What will be will be. I have to be respectful to Leicester. And Leicester are a big club, now they’re back in the Premier League, so I don’t think any manager would want to jump straight off that ship (ironic look) not entered here).”

James Maddison

If Maresca eventually goes, it will be a major meeting to do on Filbert Way. They are decent candidates as I see it. Although it is very difficult to please everyone with any nomination.

A surprise name linked with a chance to take over at LCFC is Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Man United legend was a huge striker who was unmatched. He was last with PSV Eindhoven as gaffer. Apparently, van Nistelrooy is “in the frame” at Leicester. We’ll see if this unlikely installation happens.

Unfortunately for Leicester, there is a transfer embargo in place at the moment. There could be a fate worse than that in store for the Leicestershire outfit. Apparently, a deduction of six to 15 points can take place when the 2024/25 EPL starts:

“They could also be the last club to be hit with a hefty points deduction for breaching financial rules.

Telegraph sources have estimated the club’s penalty could be between six and 15 points.

In turn, Leicester could face a bigger deduction than the Premier League record nine points Portsmouth were docked in 2009, which left them rooted to the bottom of the table.

In March, Leicester were charged with breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules over a three-year period ending in 2022-23.”
