The entire contents of the Hallmark Center will be auctioned off after the closing is announced

The entire contents of Hallmark’s warehouse and distribution center in Bradford are to be auctioned after it was announced to be closing.

It emerged earlier this month that the business, based off Dawson Lane, will “consolidate” its warehouse and distribution operations and sell its South Bradford base.

It means staff from these departments will move across the border to Hallmark’s Brighouse headquarters or leave the company.

The card company’s offices will, however, remain at Dawson Lane.

NCM Auctions has now confirmed that it has been appointed to sell the “entire contents” of the distribution centre.

A spokesman for NCM Auctions said: “We have undertaken to sell the site’s machinery, fixtures and fittings through an online auction which is currently running in two parts.”

Items up for auction include conveyor systems, floor sweepers, carts, cabinets and compressors.

The auction will take place on Thursday and Friday.

News of the closure of Hallmark’s warehouse and distribution center comes after the Leeds-based makers of Airedale announced it had acquired the Dawson Lane site and that the “current owner” would be leaving by September.

Airedale plans to turn the site into a factory that develops and tests cooling systems – creating 200 jobs for Bradford over the next five years.
