The protest organized following the ‘racist’ Erdington ‘parking row’

A race rally will take place this weekend in response to an alleged racist attack on Erdington High Street. Four people have been arrested after a ‘parking row’ saw people assaulted and verbally abused.

Police said a man, a woman and a teenager were hit during the May 17 altercation. A “static and peaceful demonstration” is due to take place in the High Street on Saturday 1 June.

Community campaigner Desmond Jaddoo said the aim of the demonstration was “to highlight the current issue of racial discrimination and also the violence faced by members of the city’s black, African and Caribbean community”. The demo will take place near the Sixways roundabout between 1pm and 3pm.
