‘She’s my girl’: Nicki Minaj finally arrives in Manchester as thousands flock to Co-op Live in pink

Thousands of pink-clad fans descended on Co-op Live as Nicki Minaj finally arrives in Manchester.

The American star was due to perform at the new venue on Saturday, May 25, but the show was canceled after she was arrested at Schipol Airport in Amsterdam.




The 41-year-old rapper said he spent about six hours in custody before being able to fly to the UK. Fans were let in around 7pm on Saturday for her show, before promoter Live Nation announced around 9.40pm that it was being postponed.

The postponed show is now scheduled to take place on June 3.

However, tonight is Nicki’s first gig back in Manchester as per her schedule and thousands of eager fans queued outside Co-op Live.

Talking to Manchester Evening NewsLewis Caldwell and Lewis Greig traveled from Glasgow on the Megabus.

“We’ve been looking forward to this for ages. It’s my first concert,” said Lewis Caldwell.

“I’ve loved her since I was a kid, a huge fan of hers. I was panicking about tonight’s show, but she pulled through and came back. Can not wait!”

Touré Jobson saw Nicki at her concert in London on Tuesday, May 28 and traveled all the way to Manchester to see her again.


“She was crazy. She brought me My Life. She’s my girl,” they said. She was amazing. I was a little worried tonight wasn’t going to happen, but my girl came through.”

Jada Kennedy-Mark and friend Ruchika McPherson said they eagerly watched the updates on Saturday, May 25, to see what happened.

“We were really worried but we haven’t heard anything today. We can only assume it’s going to be good – and we’re really excited for it,” Jada said. We have been wanting to see her for many years.”
