Red Bull ‘to buy’ minority stake in Leeds

Red Bull have reportedly agreed to buy a minority stake in Leeds with the soft drinks conglomerate to become the club’s main shirt sponsor next season.

That’s according to a report in Athletic on Thursday, which claims the Austrian company will buy a small stake in the Yorkshire club.

United is currently managed by 49ers Enterprise, the private equity arm of the San Francisco-based 49ers NFL franchise, which bought Leeds last year.

But Red Bull will now become a small part of that ownership group, with Leeds joining Leipzig and Salzburg as part of their football umbrella.

However, there is no discussion of changing the club’s name, jersey color or stadium name, with 49ers Enterprise having a controlling stake and therefore decision-making in such matters.
