Man accused of sexual assaults in the village to be tried

A Leicester man accused of carrying out a series of sexual assaults in a village near Loughborough has denied the charges and is due to stand trial. Ionut Toroduc, aged 36, was arrested by Nottinghamshire Police after reports were made of sexual assaults by three women and a teenage girl in East Leake.

The four separate incidents are alleged to have taken place on Tuesday, May 21, and Toroduc was arrested the following day. As well as four counts of sexual assault, Toroduc, of Stuart Street in Westcotes, Leicester, was also charged with driving offenses and an alleged violent assault which is said to have taken place in Leicester on Tuesday, April 30.



The motoring offenses he is charged with are related to failing to provide a breath sample after being suspected of being unfit to drink drive.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 24. The case was sent to Nottingham Crown Court after he denied the offences. The date of the next hearing has not yet been set.
