Coventry MotoFest: Hopes for epic ring road sprint circuit for 2025 event

A special extra event could take place at next year’s MotoFest, it has been revealed. On the eve of Coventry MotoFest 2024, organizers announced they were in “advanced discussions” with the FIA ​​World Rallycross Championship to host a round of the RX World Championship on its unique sprint circuit, created from the city’s ring road.

The FIA ​​World Rallycross Championship aims to host a street race at MotoFest Coventry in 2025 after engaging in advanced talks with the UK’s biggest annual motoring and motorsport festival event.

A proposed layout has already been drawn up with the support and input of Kevin Hansen, the 2023 FIA World Rallycross Vice-Championship, and over the next few months, there will be a consultation period with partners and especially local residents to agree how to which project will take place. can be carried forward.

The RX World Championship round will form part of an extended MotoFest Coventry weekend, alongside its current well-established sprint circuit schedule, including rounds of the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) Connaught Speed ​​Championship.

MotoFest Coventry will continue to host the dedicated Crewsade Drift Arena, live action arenas, dynamic and static car displays and full entertainment program throughout the festival weekend.

With a track design developed by Driven International, we are close to having all the pieces in place for this ambitious project.

“We are now actively seeking commercial partners to provide the infrastructure and funding needed to turbocharge our ambitions and get the plan off the ground.

“With the ambition to deliver exciting, all-electric racing on our unique city center sprint circuit, we are taking MotoFest Coventry to the next level, putting the event at the heart of sustainable motorsport for now and into the future.

“This is a huge opportunity to showcase Coventry’s motoring past with a project that will help secure its future as a city at the heart of transport innovation and development.”
