A necklace may have saved a man’s life by blocking a bullet

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Police in Colorado say a man’s sturdy necklace likely saved his life by blocking a bullet fired into his neck.

The bullet lodged in the nearly half-inch (10-millimeter) silver metal chain during Tuesday night’s shooting in Commerce City, a suburb north of Denver.

The shooting happened during an argument. The victim, whose identity has not been released, suffered only a minor puncture wound, the Commerce City Police Department said in a statement posted on Facebook.

Police were not sure what the necklace was made of, but suspected it was silver, a soft metal unlikely to withstand a bullet, the statement said.

The shooter was arrested on a charge of attempted murder, according to police.

He was scheduled to appear in court Monday, according to court records.
