Kier lands job at £23m Bradford school

The firm received the planning last month and is preparing to start the project which will be delivered in three phases while the school remains open.

The first phase will begin with the demolition of an existing block of flats from the 1930s, which has already been closed due to deterioration and asbestos.

It will be replaced by a new two-storey block containing the gymnasium and main hall, as well as kitchen, dining, art rooms and administrative offices.

New school block containing sports, dining and administration facilities

During this time, a second, more modern, three-storey school block at the former Queensbury Academy will be fully refurbished.

Once completed, a third final block will be demolished to make way for the new sports facilities and landscaping.

The school was designed by architect Bond Bryan with M&E consultancy from Watermans.

It comes as part of the second wave of the school rebuilding program.
