Paraag Marathe reveals how Red Bull could help Leeds United with future transfers and scouting

Paraag Marathe shared how Red Bull’s investment can help Leeds United with potential transfers and future scouting.

Leeds confirmed on Thursday morning that the global energy drink brand has agreed a minority investment at Elland Road in what is the most lucrative sponsorship deal in EFL history.

This is Red Bull’s first foray into English football, but unlike other clubs, they won’t have a seat in the boardroom and don’t have the power to change their badge, name or stadium name.

As is known, other clubs in their football network, including Leipzig, Salzburg and New York, now all have “Red Bull” in their names and badges.

While this has caused some controversy in those nations, one thing they have become famous for since establishing themselves in the sport is their keen eye for young talent.

Marathe shares how Red Bull can help Leeds’ future signings

Since their full takeover nearly 12 months ago, 49ers Enterprises have worked hard to build a large recruiting team at Leeds, which now includes all of Gretar Steinsson, Jordan Miles and Nick Hammond.

Under previous boss Andrea Radrizzani, Victor Orta was a one-man band when it came to controlling signings, something Leeds have since admitted was a mistake.

Given how many transfer deals have taken place between both Leipzig and Salzburg since Red Bull took over, Marathe was asked in an interview with Athletic if something similar could happen at Leeds.

Marathe insisted there was “no official interaction” between Leeds and Red Bull’s other clubs, but suggested that with their large network of scouts they could prove useful when it comes to identifying potential signings as a “extra” pair of eyes with a proven pair. historic.

He said: “Honestly, they are separate entities. We didn’t really think about it. I don’t know the details of the interactions between Leipzig and Salzburg that you just talked about. Everything I know about Leeds and what is best for Leeds United.

“Like I said, if there’s an opportunity somewhere or if we identify a talent that could benefit us, we’ll do it. The other benefit of this is that as minority investors in the club, they are another set of eyes and ears – quite keen and expert eyes and ears, in seeing other players in other leagues.

“Forget even the Red Bull players. They have a lot of extra players. As we evaluate and work for this window and future windows, we can say, “What do you think of this player?”.

“There are things we can learn that we wouldn’t have been able to learn otherwise. In terms of an official interaction between the clubs, there isn’t one.”

Will Red Bull’s investment help Leeds with money for signings?

LeedsUnited.News spoke to Football Finance expert Adam Williams about what Red Bull’s investment could mean for Leeds in the transfer market, and it certainly sounds like good news.

Williams stated that with this being confirmed as a “capital investment” in the club, it will impact their ability in the transfer market, giving them more freedom when it comes to PSR. Marathe effectively confirmed this as well.

He said: “At this stage the extent of Red Bull’s investment is not clear. It was only described as a “minority” stake. But the statement says the deal will come with equity investment, suggesting Red Bull will not be a “signal” investor.

“This will have a material impact on their power in the transfer market. They already have room to work in terms of FFP. This will give them more space – although exactly how much is not clear.”
