The League One club have set their sights on veterans Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity

Ambitious League One club Oldham have set their sights on two new signings with plenty of Super League experience ahead of the 2025 season. Rugby League Live understands that the Roughyeds will be looking to add more experience to their squad next year, with two players identified .

They are Gil Dudson and Iain Thornley, who currently play for Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity respectively. Dudson, 33, is on a season-long loan with the Reds from Warrington Wolves, where he is out of contract at the end of the season. The Wales international made more than 250 appearances during a career that saw him spend 15 years in Super League.




Thornley, 32, meanwhile, has made more than 100 Super League appearances in a career that has seen him represent Wigan Warriors, Leigh, Salford and Catalans among others. He has played ten games for Wakefield since joining the club ahead of the Championship campaign and scored two tries.

Oldham, who are coached by Sean Long, are currently second in League One, two points behind Keighley Cougars with a game in hand. Ahead of the current season, they have made a number of high-profile signings with the likes of Joe Wardle and Jordan Turner among the players at Long’s disposal this year.

Gil Dudson returns to Salford Red Devils, this time on loan from Warrington Wolves.

Meanwhile, Wakefield have already made moves that will see them cover the loss of Thornley, with the likes of Corey Hall and Cam Scott heavily linked with moves to the club next year. Meanwhile, Salford are already making plans for the 2025 season and recently announced the signing of Esan Marsters from Huddersfield Giants.
