Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital in Cornwall

Devon and Cornwall Police said the motorcyclist was taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries (BBC)

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in Cornwall, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the crash involved a van and a motorbike on Hurling Way in St Columb.

Police said the motorcycle driver had “serious injuries.”

The force had been alerted by the ambulance service at around 1.20pm BST on Friday.

“Road Closed”

“The rider of the motorcycle was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by Cornwall Air Ambulance with what are believed to be serious injuries,” police said.

The South Western Ambulance Service (SWASFT) added that they were called at approximately 1.12pm BST.

“We dispatched a dual manned ground ambulance and an air ambulance to the scene and transported a patient by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital,” SWASFT said.

The police added that the road was closed.
