Anthony Gordon makes Anfield move amid Liverpool ‘interest’ of more than $127m

Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has spoken highly of the atmosphere at Anfield amid reported transfer interest from Liverpool. The 23-year-old enjoyed a good season at St. James’ Park, scoring 11 goals and providing a further 10 assists in the Premier League.

His form has earned him a place in England’s provisional Euro 2024 squad, with Gordon a candidate to start on the left of the Three Lions’ attack. He will be back on Monday night when Gareth Southgate’s men face Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ahead of the game, Gordon and several of his teammates were asked about the best atmosphere they’ve played in, and the former Everton man spoke highly of Anfield.

Speaking to Channel 4’s TikTok channel, he said: “Apart from St. James, it’s Anfield by far. I think because I’m from the city, I grew up watching it. I think before the game, when they sing You’ll Never Walk Alone, it’s top notch.

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are considering a move for Gordon this summer, despite the fact that he only joined Newcastle 18 months ago. Eddie Howe is desperate to keep hold of him, but the report claims he may have to cash in on one of his prized assets to fund summer spending.

It is claimed Liverpool would have to pay close to $127m (£100m/€117m) to sign Gordon, who actually started out at the club’s academy before joining their Merseyside rivals , Everton.
