Manchester United ‘considering’ bid for £51m defender as Premier League star targeted

Rumors claiming Manchester United are in the market for certain signings this summer continue to swirl.

United are enjoying their start to the summer after winning the FA Cup against Manchester City last month. United qualified for the Europa League thanks to winning the trophy at Wembley Stadium, despite finishing eighth in the Premier League table.

Erik ten Hag’s future as United manager continues to be the subject of speculation a week after that triumph. Even so, the Reds continue to be linked with several potential new signings with the transfer window set to open at the end of this month.

According to the Express, United are showing interest in signing Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande. The report claims the Reds have identified the centre-back as a target this summer as they look to bolster their defensive options.

It has been claimed that Sporting have set a £51m price tag for Diomande’s signature but could be willing to accept a fee of up to £35m. The report goes on to say that United are weighing up a bid, but will only do so once the managerial situation at Old Trafford becomes clearer.

Elsewhere, United are being linked with a move for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez. According to talkSPORT, the Reds want to sign a new left-back to provide competition for Luke Shaw.
