Mahindra Automotivea division of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) recorded a sale of 43,218 PV in the domestic market in May 2024. This results in a growth of 31% over last year.

In April 2024, MG Motor India recorded a sales figure of 4,485 units. It resulted in a monthly increase of 6%.

MG Motor recorded a monthly sales volume of 4,769 units in May 2024, resulting in a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%. In the same month last year, MG recorded a sales figure of 5,006 units.

Car sales, both retail and wholesale, in May could also be affected due to unseasonal rains in many parts of India, including the west coast, southern, eastern and northeastern states.

Retail demand for both PVs and two-wheelers is likely to witness a slowdown due to several reasons such as absence of marriage periods, poor foot traffic, ongoing elections and heat wave across the country.

Industry analysts predict 2-4% annual growth in the two-wheeler segment. Southern regions are likely to grow better than northern regions.

Industry analysts have predicted 6-8% year-over-year sales growth in the passenger vehicle segment for May 2024.
