More street lights to turn off or dim

Several street lights in Cornwall will be switched off or dimmed overnight.

This should reduce light pollution to help nocturnal wildlife, save money on energy and protect the county’s designated dark sky areas, Cornwall Council said.

Street lights in Carbis Bay, St Columb Major, St Neot and Treverbyn Parish will be switched off or dimmed between midnight and 05:00 BST.

The council has confirmed that street lights in busy city centers at night, areas where there is CCTV and along main roads will remain on or be switched off.

An interactive map on Cornwall Council’s website will show which street lights will be affected.
