Enzo Maresca at Chelsea LIVE – Five-year deal ‘done’ as Leicester City also face coaching staff raid

Leicester City talisman Harry Winks has given his verdict on the man who signed him last summer and is now on the verge of joining Chelsea.

Enzo Maresca is edging closer to becoming the new manager at Stamford Bridge, replacing Mauricio Pochettino after the Argentine coach resigned earlier this month.

And Winks, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who returns to the Premier League next season after winning the Championship with the Foxes, ranked Maresca as the best manager he played for – ahead of Chelsea legend Jose Mourinho and Pochettino at Spurs .

Having enjoyed a season with the Italian, Winks’ verdict is perhaps no surprise. The 28-year-old recently told Sky Sports: “He’s by far the best manager I’ve worked for, he’s unbelievable. I think everyone will say he goes straight to the top, he has it all.

“He’s a great coach, he’s incredible tactically, some of the decisions he tells us to make before the game and how you look at games and it’s something I’ve never experienced before in football. It opened my eyes to football a lot. and the way he plays, that kind of style of Pep Guardiola, with whom he worked for a very long time.

“I love my football, it works perfectly for me, it’s exactly the kind of football I want to play and buy and since he’s arrived I’ve learned so much and will continue to do so.”
