EasyJet chaos as ‘drunk Brit tries to open plane door’ fights cabin crew in midair | Bristol Live

An easyJet flight was thrown into chaos after a drunken passenger tried to open the aircraft door mid-flight. The 28-year-old, who was so drunk he didn’t realize the plane was still in the air, was arrested by police waiting on the tarmac at Spain’s Alicante airport.

Fellow holidaymakers assisted the crew in picking up the passenger during an incident where he became abusive and “compromised the safety of the flight”.




Reports suggest the passenger was already intoxicated when he boarded the plane, but his condition “deteriorated during the flight.” The situation escalated when he started insulting other passengers, leading to a physical altercation. It is also claimed that he tried to hit a crew member who tried to intervene, the Mirror reports.

Other reports indicate that the 28-year-old attempted to enter the cabin during his violent outburst. The local press reported: “According to the sources to which Informacion had access, the captain contacted the control tower in Alicante to warn them that they had a drunk passenger on board, whom they had to immobilize with the help of the passenger for compromising the safety of the flight repeatedly.

“It appears that the passenger had already boarded drunk, but his condition worsened during the flight as altitude increases the effects of alcohol. At one point, he got into an argument with other travelers, whom he attacked after insulting and provoking them. the staff on board intervened, he also tried to hit them”.

“And not only that. In the midst of the scramble, he tried to open the plane’s door to get off, not knowing they were in full flight, then tried to gain access to the cabin. Finally, the passenger helped the crew. to immobilize him and, as soon as the aircraft landed in El Altet, the Civil Guard entered and detained him”.

Alicante airport records the most conflicts with passengers. Last year alone there were 184 complaints – only Tenerife Sur-Reina Sofia was ahead with 189.
