Five puppies and young dogs looking for new homes

Some dogs just don’t seem to have much luck. This week we take a look at five puppies and young dogs who are looking for a home despite their age.

With years ahead of them, they have a lot of love to offer. They are looking for their perfect family, where they can put their paws up for the rest of their days.

Hi

Age: 6-12 months

Breed: Lakeland Terrier cross

What her carers say: “Hella is a wonderful little girl, full of energy. She is looking for a quiet home where she can have access to lots of quiet areas to walk away from too much hustle and bustle. He will need an adult home where he can be the only pet. Hella is a real whirlwind and shows a lot of terrier traits, being so young she can also show mouth behaviors and needs some guidance to learn what is and isn’t appropriate. She is a really clever little girl and loves to investigate enrichment in our quieter areas in the centre, playing with mats and wrecking boxes to sniff out lots of tasty treats. Hella’s new family will need to be willing to spend time getting to know Hella and attend a few 1-2-1 sessions without the training team, who can walk you through everything you need to know. Hella is not a fan of other dogs and is learning how to muzzle her walkies as she can get quite flustered when she sees them. For this reason, she MUST have her own secure garden where she can safely play, explore and release all her energy. She would love for her new family to take her to places like safe fields where she can grow and run!”

STEFAN

Age: 6-12 months

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier

What his carers say: “Stephen is a sweet but sensitive guy who finds kennel life quite overwhelming at the moment. He is looking for his forever home with a confident resident dog who can help him learn all about the world. They prefer calmer dogs of a similar size and are slowly learning that play can be a lot of fun! Stephen has limited experience at home so will probably need help with lots of things like house training and how to be left on his own so we recommend this is built up gradually. He will need his own safe garden where he can play and explore at his own pace. Stephen could share his home with children over 12 who can understand his worries and give him the space he might need.”

Scooby

Age: 1-2 years

Breed: Border Collie

What his carers say: “Scooby is a cute boy looking for a home to keep him busy! We don’t have much of a history for Scooby and it is likely that he will need help settling into a home environment. They may need ongoing training with things like house training and any remaining time should be built up gradually. He could live with children over 16+ who will give him all the space he needs to settle down. Scooby can often feel a little overwhelming, but our team will help you learn all about him! He loves toys and will play all day if you let him, he also really likes enrichment and puzzle feeders. Because he is such a smart boy, but due to medical needs he will need to be kept calm. Not suitable for an overly active home. Scooby may live with another dog in his new home after another meeting at the center, he may be nervous about noisy dogs and prefers quieter friends. Scooby would love his own garden when he can sniff, zoom, and most importantly, play catch.”

Margot

Age: 1-2 years

Breed: Border Collie cross

What her carers say: “Delightful little Margo is a sweet lady looking for her forever home. She loves people and is a true sweetheart. Margo will need a home with children over 16. She is an active girl and will need a home that will keep her mentally and physically stimulated, she is super smart and loves to learn. Margo has been home trained before and is happy to be dropped off, however after spending time back in a kennel environment she may need a bit of a refresher! Margo may share her home with another dog following a successful meeting here at the center and although she loves dogs, she can be vocal and reactive outside on walkies, so her new family will have to involve in her training. Margo must have access to her own secure garden where she can grow and play.”

Bowie

Age: 1-2 years

Breed: Shar Pei cross

What his carers say: “Bowie is a sensitive sausage looking for an understanding home that will give him time to settle down and continue his ongoing training. He asks for an adult-only home with few visitors as he can find some situations overwhelming. He likes delicious tastes and treats and a game of tug, this can help with his later training. He was previously house trained and was fine to be left for a few hours as long as he has a comfortable place to snooze and is left with his favorite toys to play with. Bowie will need to be the only pet in the house – as he can get confused when he sees other dogs, he will need access to quieter walking areas where he can feel relaxed exploring and gain confidence. Bowie will need access to his own secure garden where he can grow and play.”
