Sheffield Wednesday fans have plenty to say after Dejphon Chansiri’s latest revelation

Sheffield Wednesday fans have had their say after it was revealed owner Dejphon Chansiri wants fresh investment at the club.

A developing report has revealed that controversial Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is keen to secure new investors to the club in the future.

But Chansiri is unwilling to divulge full control of the club, prompting widespread discussion among Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media.

There remains a large section of the Owls faithful who are against the ownership of Chansiri, with the events of 2023/24 leading to the formation of the 1867 Group.

But Chansiri eased tensions somewhat after securing a new contract for Danny Rohl after the club escaped relegation from the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday fans discuss Dejphon Chansiri’s latest revelation

The news for potential investors is positive. But fans are still concerned that Chansiri is largely agreeable and taking on too much work for one person.

@uptheowls76 says: “So he wants to play with other people’s money but still make a decision?” While @ourclub1867 says: “No investor in their right mind will work with him (Chansiri).”

There is the odd bit of positivity, with @Owlzaboutthat1 posting: “Step in the right direction”, but many would prefer to see Chansiri sell the club rather than bring in new investors.

@lukepeo1867 says: “He wants what he put back before selling” and @AvoB1987 says: “If we have real buyers, they need to cut their losses and sell.”

Chansiri previously pumped money into the club, but poor league finishes and poor long-term planning now have Sheffield Wednesday seemingly in a bad financial position.

That might explain this renewed desire for fresh investment, but the general feeling among Sheffield Wednesday fans is that Chansiri finally needs to step down, cut his losses and let the club progress under new ownership.

But with this unlikely idea, a new investment might be the best fans can hope for right now. Even then, it doesn’t look like the new investors will change much in terms of the actual operation of the club, if Chansiri can even attract new investors.

@Jay_Blogs says, “No one will want to invest without a say unless it’s pure sponsorship,” highlighting the potential problems Chansiri could have in attracting new investors, given the idea that it can be difficult to work with him.
