Two men have charged after ‘shots were fired’ in Erdington

Detectives investigating an alleged shooting in Erdington have charged two teenagers with possession of an offensive weapon. Two shots were allegedly fired in open land off Old Bell Road on Thursday, May 30.

Police say no injuries were reported in the reported incident. Officers attended the scene and, after stopping a car in Marsh Lane, four people were arrested.



Now, in an update, West Midlands Police say two men, both aged 18, have been charged. They were due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today, Saturday June 1.

The force said it had stepped up patrols in the area to “provide reassurance” to worried residents in the area. West Midlands Police said: “We have charged two men after they were shot in open ground near Old Bell Road, Erdington, on Thursday (May 30). Officers also attended after stopping a car in Marsh Lane, arresting four people.

“Two 18-year-old men have now been charged.” The force confirmed that both were “charged with possession of an offensive weapon. They have been remanded in custody and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today (June 1).”
