Frank Gimello Obituary – Sheffield Lake, OH

SHEFFIELD LAKE – Frank Gimello, 89, of Sheffield Lake, died Saturday, February 19, 2011, at EMH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born on March 4, 1921 in Camden, New Jersey. Frank lived in Philadelphia for twenty-seven years before moving to Lorain, where he made his home for sixty-two years.

Frank was employed at US Steel in Lorain for thirty-seven years, retiring in the sanitation department. He also owned and operated the National Theater Agency in Lorain for fifty-two years. During this time, he managed to book numerous acts at the Lorain Palace Theater and the Antlers Hotel, which included Guy Lombardo, Duke Ellington and Count Basie.

Survivors include his sister Ida Loncantore of New Jersey and his lifelong friend Michael O’Leary of Sheffield Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-two years Helena M. Gimello (nee: Zelina) on January 17, 2009; and by his parents Rockes and Elizabeth Gimello (nee: Chance).

Services for Frank are managed privately by the family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice Center; 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
