Wiltshire Farm Foods receives fourth royal honour

WARRINGTON-based ready meals supplier Wiltshire Farm Foods has been awarded the King’s Awards for Enterprise in Sustainable Development 2024.

Considered the UK’s highest business accolade, it is the fourth time the company has received the royal honour, having previously won three Queen’s Enterprise Awards.
The company’s ambitious closed-loop recycling scheme – which involves customers returning food trays back to drivers, where 100% of them are subsequently recycled into new trays – is a world-first initiative on an industrial scale.
In this innovative project, 25 million trays have been recycled to date; an achievement which won considerable recognition from the awarding body and helped secure this prestigious win.

Warrington branch manager Steve Bishop says: “On behalf of the whole team, we are so proud to be recognized with a King Award for our closed loop recycling bin scheme.
“It’s all down to the hard work of our drivers and their relationships with our customers – their involvement in their contribution to the environment has been a real motivator and something they love to be a part of.
“It’s a brilliant example of teamwork at its best!”

The award also recognizes parent company apetito’s commitment to doing business in a way that has a positive impact on the environment. Its ambition to reach Net Zero by 2040 and its commitment to meeting challenging short-term carbon reduction targets demonstrate how the company is committed to supporting climate change.
