Amie Gray’s wife watches as man accused of ‘murder’ on Bournemouth beach appears in court

A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court over the murder of “beautiful” mum Amie Gray and the attempted murder of a second woman on a beach in Bournemouth.

Nasen Saadi, from Croydon, who appeared in court wearing a gray jumper, spoke only to confirm his name and address during the brief hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court. He was charged with killing Gray at Durley Chine Beach on May 24 and the attempted murder of Leanne Miles, 38, on the same beach.



Louise Holmes, prosecuting, said: “The Crown’s request is that the defendant be remanded in custody as he is charged with murder and is not eligible for bail today. His case was sent to Winchester Crown Court for a hearing. on Tuesday, June 4, and until then he will be held in custody”.

Paul Kemp, chairman of the panel of magistrates, told Saadi: “You are being committed to Winchester Crown Court for the following offenses – murder and attempted murder. You will attend there on June 4th for a plea and trial. preliminary hearing due to the nature of the offenses with which you are charged, there is no possibility of bail and you are remanded in custody until that time.”

Ogugua Ebuzoeme, representing Saadi, told the court: “It is good to remind everyone that my client is innocent until proven guilty.” Gray’s wife Sian was in court to witness the proceedings. Dorset Police received a report at 24:42 on May 24 that two people had been stabbed on the beach. Gray, from Poole, died at the scene.

Miles, also from Poole, was rushed to hospital after suffering serious injuries and has since been discharged. Detective Superintendent Richard Dixey, of the Major Crimes Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of Amie Gray, as well as the woman who was seriously injured and have been made aware of this latest development our investigation. .

“This matter has been the subject of extensive investigation and we have now consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service, who have authorized charges of murder and attempted murder. This means that the case will now be the subject of active legal proceedings and is vital. that the justice system is allowed to take its course. It is also important to emphasize that there should be no comment or exchange of information online or on social media that could prejudice these legal proceedings.”

Dorset Police said yesterday that enhanced patrols would continue in Bournemouth over the weekend.
