Man Utd have set terms for the transfer of Mason Greenwood as the European giants step up their interest

Manchester United are ready to sell Mason Greenwood this summer and the race for the 22-year-old’s signature is now starting to heat up after an eye-catching loan spell at Getafe.

Mason Greenwood is wanted by Italian giants Napoli, Juventus and Lazio.

The Manchester United striker, who won Getafe’s Player of the Season award following a successful loan spell in La Liga, looks set to be sold by INEOS this summer. United have already held official talks with Napoli over a deal, while Juve and Lazio have made their interest known, although they are not alone.

Lazio previously came close to landing Greenwood on deadline day last December after being offered the chance to sign the England international, before he eventually completed a surprise move to Spain. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are expected to avert a move amid claims they are in the hunt for the winger’s signature.

Getafe, however, remain keen on another loan or even a permanent deal for the right price and United are believed to have triggered a one-year extension clause, meaning Greenwood’s deal at Old Trafford will now run until the summer 2026.

Barcelona have already decided internally they will not pursue a move, while Atletico Madrid have been vetted as potential suitors.

Erik ten Hag was keen to reintegrate Greenwood into United’s first-team set-up last summer before the Old Trafford hierarchy stepped in and sanctioned a loan.

Now Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to ratify a permanent departure and United are likely to be looking for a fee of around £40m – although they are open to negotiations. Ratcliffe said upon his arrival in Manchester that no decision had been made on the Carrington Academy graduate’s future, which will be assessed at the end of the current season.

Greenwood has been the subject of inquiries from at least two unnamed Premier League clubs, however a move abroad is believed to be more likely. He has scored 10 goals and registered six assists in 36 appearances in all competitions this season for Madrid.
