The former Oasis frontman had a few surprises up his sleeve at the first of his definitive dates in 30 years. Get the highlights here.

Liam Gallagher he opened his Sure, maybe tournament with a meeting at Sheffield Utility Arena Saturday (July 1).

After much anticipation, the Manchester giants did not disappoint, dealing Oasis fans old and new to a night of epic proportions to celebrate the Britpop band’s debut album.

After filling the arena with Stone roses I Am the Resurrectionthrowback clips of a young Gallagher hijacked the screens before the man himself finally took to the stage.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Liam opened his set in the best way he knows how; with a rocking rendition of the album opener and favorite live starter: Rock ‘N’ Roll Star.

The Burnage rocker went on to perform a set of 20 favorites from the ‘mixed up’ album as promised, playing as Colombia, Shakermaker, Up in the sky and Disgsy’s dinnerthe last of which has not been performed since 1995.

Accompanied by original Oasis guitarist and band co-founder, bonehead, Liam also treated fans to B-sides such as Cloud-burst, I will believe, D’Yer Wanna Be a Space Man and (It’s good) To be freewhich also didn’t have a live output from the mid-90s.

His estranged brother and former bandmate may have been absent on the night, but Liam made sure to include him in his own way, performing the Noel Sung Oasis B-side and the Royle Family song. Half a world awaywhich he dedicated to his older brother.

If a nod to his big brother wasn’t enough, Liam took it a step further and demoed the Lock all the doorswhich of course became a Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds single.

Liam Gallagher treated fans to more tracks from the album as he returned to the stage for not one but two encores – the first of which consisted of Definitely Maybe’s Supersonic, Glide and Live forever.

After leading the Sheffield crowds in a massive rendition of his favorite Oasis song, Liam chose to take his fans back to where it all began, playing the song that ended Oasis’ King Tut set in 1993 and changed the course of life forever; their coverage of The beatles’ I am the Walrus.
