Firefighters rescue a pigeon stuck in the wall

An unusual 999 call was made to Nuneaton firefighters – to help a pigeon trapped in a cavity wall. Blue Watch at the Newtown Road station responded to the call for help in the Barpool area of ​​the town yesterday afternoon (June 1).

Crews were called to Barpool Road as a pigeon was trapped in a cavity wall. They were able to free the bird and then release it back into the wild.




Later last night they responded to reports of smoke coming from Hartshill Hayes Country Park. It was found to be from a disposable grill.

With the weather set to be warm today (June 2), the station wants to remind people about the dangers of disposable grills, especially using them in green spaces.

Barbecues are banned in all Warwickshire County Council country parks, including Hartshill Hayes, due to the risk of causing fires.
