Death and funeral notices in the Birmingham Mail this week include a retired police officer and 99-year-old grandmother

Announcing the passing of a loved one in the local media is a longstanding tradition and we are proud of the trust placed in us to make these important announcements. Every notice published in our newspaper and news website also appears on funeral-notices.co.uk – the UK’s number one website for death notices and obituaries.

Each notice stays online forever, giving friends and families a lifetime tribute to their loved one, a safe online place to share memories, add tributes, photos and make memorial donations. Each week we pay tribute to loved ones remembered in our area with a funeral notice and online tribute page.

Roger John Dickens

A much loved husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Our father, Roger, was kind, caring and selfless. He was always there for us as his family and friends – putting our needs before his.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather(s) and uncle who always made time to listen, support and help us all in any way he could. He was patient, even with my math homework or learning to drive!

Nothing bothered our father, he was always calm, considerate and balanced, no matter what was happening around him. He could fix anything from a broken toy to my car, answer any questions we had and make all our worries go away.

Our father was my foundation on this world and the path seems shaky without him in it. Dad passed away peacefully at St Mary’s Hospice and we will always be grateful to everyone who helped look after Dad; the hospice team and all the district nurses who supported us as a family – you were all fantastic.

His funeral will take place at Robin Hood Crematorium at 10.30am on June 11. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Birmingham Hospice.
