Head of fitness Andreas Kornmayer will leave at the end of the season

Liverpool FC’s head of fitness and conditioning Andreas Kornmayer is set to leave at the end of this season. The 49-year-old Bavarian is a familiar sight to fans and can often be seen putting the team through their paces during their pre-match routines. He also bore a striking resemblance to our manager, looking like Klopp’s mini-doppelganger with their matching glasses.

Kornmayer was poached from Bayern Munich in July 2016 and will end his eight-year tenure here. He follows a number of expected departures at the back, including coaches Pepijn Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, Vitor Matos and John Achterberg. Head of recovery and performance Andreas Schlumberger, who joined in 2020, is also expected to leave.

That leaves sporting director Richard Hughes and incoming coach Arne Slot with several meetings behind them this summer. Several of Slot’s colleagues at Feyenoord have already been confirmed: assistant Sipke Hulsoff, head of performance Ruben Peeters and technical adviser Etienne Reijnen.
