A30 crash leaves motorcyclist fighting for his life

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life in hospital following a serious crash on the A30. Emergency services responded to the collision on the A30 eastbound at Chiverton Cross at around 7.34am on Sunday (June 2).

The rider of the blue Kawasaki motorcycle, a man in his 70s from the Redruth area, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.




Police officers closed the route between the A390 at Chiverton Cross and the A39 at Carland Cross for several hours to investigate the circumstances of the collision. The route reopened around 3:00 p.m.

Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for witnesses with any information to come forward. A spokesman said: “Officers were called at around 7.34am to the A30 eastbound at the Chiverton flyover on Sunday 2 June.

“It was reported that the collision involved a blue Kawasaki motorcycle. The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 70s from the Redruth area, suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital.”
