Sam Tomkins reveals which stadium has the best atmosphere in Super League

Hull KR produced a huge defensive effort in their win over Leigh Leopards to keep their momentum going in the Super League play-offs yesterday. The Robins came out on top in a close encounter thanks to tries from Tom Opacic and Niall Evalds.

Leigh came into the game in red hot form having won three and drawn one of their last four games. Leigh lost ground in the top six earlier in the season and are playing like a team in possession as they look to claw their way back into contention, which makes the result all the more important for KR.

The result moves KR into third in the table ahead of Warrington Wolves with 18 points from their opening games. They are just two points behind Wigan Warriors and St Helens, who occupy the top two places in the league.

Speaking in the build-up to the game against Leigh, Sam Tomkins identified KR’s stadium as one of the key factors behind their rise to the top of the table.

Speaking ahead of KR’s win over Leigh, Sky Sports pundit Sam Tomkins picked out a major reason for their success. Tomkins believes KR’s stadium has the best atmosphere in Super League.

Tomkins said: “The only thing Hull KR have going for them is the ground they play on.

“I don’t think any other fans in Super League get away from the team and create an atmosphere and create a better atmosphere than the Hull KR fans.”

Crowds at Craven Park have grown in recent years as Hull’s east side get behind the Robins’ success. This year, they announced that they sold over 8,000 memberships, setting an all-time record for the club. In the build-up to the game, Adrian Lam cited some of the difficulties of traveling to KR, particularly the size of the changing rooms.

Lam said: “You get there and down to earth, with all due respect, the changing rooms aren’t the greatest. They’re small and tiny and the crowd is in front of you, which is something you want from a home crowd.”
