DOUBLE: Reaching high and under siege

Reaching High is royally bred in more ways than one and looks ready to start upholding the family honor in the live Racecourse broadcasts on the Racing TV Extra Handicap from Leicester.

The son of Sea The Stars is out of 2013 Ascot Gold Cup winner Estimare, a mating sired by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

He wears the colors inherited from the King and Queen and looks to be heading in the right direction this term after being immature as a two-year-old.

Reaching High returned to action with a solid sixth behind Harper’s Ferry in a hot Windsor maiden that worked well and then showed plenty of promise when second on his handicap debut at Chelmsford.

Primo Lara proved too good on the day but there is no shame in that as he followed up with a comfortable triumph on a higher note at York despite being given a 5lb lift.

Sir Michael Stoute still has some work to do with Reaching High, judging by the way he grew up in the stalls before his last start, but the gelding clearly has potential and going the distance should help his cause.

Under Siege can be considered the unluckiest so far to face some formidable foes and deserves a change of fortune in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes.

Andrew Balding’s charge made an eye-catching debut when second of 17 at Newbury and that form was given a significant boost when winner Economics won by six lengths in the Dante.

It was a similar story at York for Under Siege as the son of Wootton Bassett continued to finish second behind the impressive scorer Lead Artist, who is now being talked about as a Group One prospect.

Chase A Fortune can kick things off at Southwell by taking the Prestige Safety ‘Your Trusted Safety Partner’ Handicap Chase.

Chris Grant’s primary has been in decent form since wind surgery in January and the race on a good surface on a sharp track should go in his favour.

Taste The Fear is used to complete a course and distance hat-trick in the Prestige Safety First Aid Training Handicap Chase, while Hell Hound came off the pace to claim a 16-runner Ludlow bumper under a confident ride of Jonathan Burke and appeals to his vault in the Prestige Safety Fire Risk Assessments’ Maiden Hurdle ‘National Hunt’.

Godolphin colt Al Qudra can take advantage of a drop in class and step up the distance for the Get Raceday Ready/EBF Novice Stakes at Lingfield.

The son of No Nay Never cost 425,000 guineas as a yearling and has not been beaten much in two outings at Newmarket so far.

Charlie Appleby will be keen to find a remedy for his late starts, but the ability is certainly there once he gets the hang of things.

The Laoisman was unlucky not to get a time trial when he passed Katey Kontent at Windsor last time out, falling just a nose after stumbling in the closing stages.

The Sean Woods-trained four-year-old continues to climb the ratings ladder but the way he travels so strongly in his races suggests he has the ability to cope and another big race is expected in the Raceday Raceday Ready Handicap App Download .

At Wolverhampton, Where’s Clare is looking to come out on top in the Get Raceday Ready EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes following a very encouraging debut effort.

Charlie Johnston’s filly Mehmas was beaten by just a head when previous runner-up Englemere, while third-placed River Seine earlier showed plenty of promise on her first start at Newmarket.

Streak Lightning entered plenty of notebooks when a close third at this venue behind Bora Bora at the end of April when jockey David Probert waited agonizingly for a free racecourse before finishing strongly .

Ruth Carr’s seven-year-old is currently 7lb lower in rating than when last successful at Newcastle 14 months ago and takes the eye in the Free Digital Racecard on the raceday-ready.com Handicap.
