Love Island’s Jess White has cheekily hit out at a Manchester United legend

New Love Island star Jess White has revealed her surprise date with a Manchester United legend.

The retail manager is set to head into the Love Island villa for the latest series of the ITV2 dating show. Before entering the villa, Jess shared an insight into her life back home in the UK. He works in a wealthy Cheshire suburb at a Marks & Spencer supermarket. Jess revealed the soccer icon she once saw browsing the aisles.

The 25-year-old shared: “I thought ‘maybe this is where I’ll meet my future husband’ but I feel like a work uniform doesn’t really go hand in hand with dating a footballer.” She cheekily added: “But we had Wayne Rooney the other day…he’s not doing well, old age. I was shocked.”

She is hoping to find love on the ITV2 show and revealed to The Mirror that her mum took her shopping for sexy lingerie to boost her chances of finding love in the villa. Jess admitted: “My mum said I needed to get some sexy underwear as mine wasn’t great so I went shopping. It was wild. Who does this to their mother?! She was like, “This is a show, this is it. This is a Hideaway outfit’”.

Jess is looking for a strong man who won’t give her an easy life, saying her ex-boyfriend was too big. She shared how she “put on quite a bit of weight” during a relationship with her last boyfriend and said she “eats what I want” because she was happy.

The TV star underwent a 1.5 weight loss transformation before appearing on Love Island. “It got to a point where I thought, ‘no, I’m not actually happy.’ I was still confident in myself, I was just thinking ‘no, I’m not happy’,” she told The Mirror. “My friend qualified as a (personal trainer) and said, ‘Why don’t you be my first client and we’ll do it together. And then we started going to the gym, she started using me as her kind of portfolio, and honestly, I realized how much I like her.”

Jess added: “I think I lost about a stone and a half, so I wasn’t anywhere (nearly) overweight, but I just didn’t feel comfortable in myself.” She confessed that going to the gym was ‘my time’ and she’s now so happy with the way exercise makes her feel that she joked she’s become ‘obsessed’ ‘I’ve started running too… I feel that any form of fitness I like, I feel like it’s good for your head, just to clear your head.” … so yeah, definitely in my fitness.”

She also spoke about her job and said after working there for eight years, the door was left open for her to return to her role. “I literally get to go back to that job, so it’s a really nice position to be in,” she shared. “It wouldn’t be a problem if I only lasted a week and went back to M&S stacking shelves.”
