Cesc Fabregas names three players Manchester United destroyed

Cesc Fabregas has singled out three players he believes have blighted their careers by joining Manchester United.

United suffered a disappointing 2023/24 Premier League season, finishing eighth and sitting a staggering 21 points behind rivals Manchester City.

Throughout the campaign, many players faced criticism for their inconsistent performances and questionable attitudes on the field.

Now former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Fabregas has given his thoughts, identifying Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Sofyan Amrabat as players who have experienced a dip in form since their move to Old Trafford.

Talking to BBC Planet Premier League Podcast, said: “Casemiro won Champions League after Champions League at Real Madrid. He was the best defensive midfielder in the world and then he goes to Manchester United and looks like a completely different player.

“Look at Sancho. He doesn’t do well at United, he goes to Dortmund and looks again like the player we all thought he would be.

“Look at the midfielder who impressed for Morocco at the World Cup (Amrabat), he was fantastic. And then he goes to Man United and he’s never been the same player.”

The Spaniard believes the trio have suffered due to the way United have been run under the Glazers, with Ten Hag’s tactics also to blame.

He continued: “Obviously it makes me think there’s something wrong there. It’s not a coincidence that three top players come in and they’re not good all of a sudden.”

Casemiro enjoyed a solid debut season at Old Trafford after joining from Real Madrid in 2022. However, the Brazilian has played 20 fewer games this term, looking unfit and unmotivated.

Sancho was sent back to Dortmund on loan in January after refusing to apologize to Ten Hag for an off-field error. While Amrabat has largely failed to live up to the hype following his loan move from Fiorentina last summer.
