Brandon Williams sends a message to Ipswich Town fans ahead of Manchester United’s expected launch

Once touted as a future Manchester United and England defender, Brandon Williams is headed for a career crossroads.

Brandon Williams has become one of Manchester United’s forgotten men after a troubled couple of seasons.

Williams missed most of 2022/23 through injury and was then sent out on loan to Ipswich Town earlier this campaign.

He started promisingly for Kieran McKenna’s side before injury struck again and he did not play a game in 2024.

Brandon Williams sends a message to Ipswich Town fans

Brandon Williams’ loan spell is over and he is proud of his contribution to Ipswich Town’s season.

He played 17 games, 10 as a starter, his last appearance coming in a 0–0 draw against QPR on 29 December.

Now Williams has expressed his gratitude to the club and wished them well for the future.

He wrote on Instagram: “IPSWICH TOWN it was a privilege to play for this club💙 Thank you for all the support from everyone associated inside and outside the club! Good luck next season, I’ll be rooting for Uppa the tractor boys.”

Manchester United’s release is awaited

Brandon Williams is out of contract on June 30 and his release from Manchester United is expected to be a formality.

The 23-year-old has been out of Manchester United’s first-team plans for some time, spending a season on loan at Norwich City before an injury-plagued past two campaigns.

The Telegraph reported that Williams was one of three players to be released at the end of June, saving a total of £600,000 a week in wages.

The other two players are the highest paid Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial who have officially confirmed their departures.

Williams will likely announce his own exit soon if the club doesn’t win him over and begin the process of trying to find a new team as a free agent.
