Finally, Warrington Wolves can officially turn their attention to Wembley and the Challenge Cup Final.

Anyone who has experienced the build-up to such a game will tell you that it’s a week like no other and now, the Wire team is ready to attack it.

With the vast majority of first-team stars held in reserve for Saturday’s Super League clash against Wembley rivals Wigan Warriors, head coach Sam Burgess says a lot more work can be done without having to factor in recovery.

However, he insists things will be kept as normal as possible.

“Why should it change? It’s just another game,” the Wire boss said.

“It’s exciting – it’s our first final for a while so the boys and the club are excited.

“I have to manage our training to make sure we get everything we need during the week.

“The good thing is that we will be able to have some good sessions because we have rested the players.

“We’ll get some work done and lean into the back.

“They are ready to play. They’ll be excited for the week, which is good.”

What Warrington’s ‘Wembley Week’ looks like

The team will hold training sessions on Monday and Wednesday before leaving for London on Thursday morning.

Supporters will be able to see the team as they leave the Halliwell Jones Stadium – all fans coming to the send-off are encouraged to be at Gate A in the north-west corner of the ground by 10am.

Both the Wire and Wigan will be allowed into Wembley Stadium on Thursday afternoon for a ‘walk-through’ in a change to what has become tradition.

Teams usually hold their final ‘team’ training session at Wembley the day before the cup final, but this year that will not be possible due to the stadium hosting an England v Iceland football international on Friday night .

As such, Warrington will hold their final training session at their north London hotel, which is equipped with a rugby pitch as part of its sporting facilities.
