Leeds United centre-back Diego Llorente has often been reported to have a purchase option in his loan deal with Roma, but a permanent exit is yet to be confirmed.

Leeds have loaned out players to join this summer as they face another season in the Championship, with two of them likely to leave the club via an additional loan clause.

Others see their futures up in the air, either performing well enough for Leeds to cash in, or others who are stuck in limbo with not-so-eager loan clubs.

Diego Llorente has a £4.3m option to buy at Roma

Diego Llorente’s situation is an interesting one, as he left for Roma without as much animosity as the rest of that loan contingent, having been ruled out by Victor Orta before Leeds were relegated.

His second spell in the Italian capital was again quite fruitful, playing regularly under both managers this season.

It sees him enter this summer window with a consistently reported €5m (£4.3m) purchase option from the Italian outlets, which the Serie A side can trigger at any time.

Are you happy that Red Bull have invested in Leeds?

What did Llorente say about staying at Leeds or Roma?

As for the Spaniard’s personal stance on a transfer, it seems he would be more than happy to leave Elland Road for good and stay at the Stadio Olimpico for good.

Talking to Spagnaculturaescienza.ithe had this to say about his 18-month stint in the Italian capital:

“The most difficult moment in my career has to be the Europa League final lost in Budapest against Roma.

“It was a big disappointment for all of us. When you come so close to winning a trophy and get knocked out on penalties… it hurts.

“Roma? I love it when we go to the Olimpico on match days. Seeing a lot of people, experiencing that environment with so much passion. The first time for me was with Cremonese in the Coppa Italia. Even though I lost, I can’t forget that night. The stadium is always amazing.”

“This team is like a big family: the atmosphere in the club is always positive. I feel the support of the club, of the management. I am very happy here, and so are my wife and children.”

“I don’t know what the future may hold for us, but as a club I will always have fantastic memories of Roma.”

From this, it’s clear to see that if it were up to Llorente, the 30-year-old would be here for the long term. However, with his future seemingly up in the air, Daniele De Rossi is likely to be planning a rebuild in his own image.
