The midfielder said Derby County not Leeds United is the perfect transfer after leaving Nottingham Forest

Ateef Konate has been told Derby County would be a “good move” to make following his exit from Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder confirmed his departure from the City Ground last week and left the Reds without making a single Premier League appearance. Leeds United are also said to be interested in the midfielder, who was educated at the famous Le Havre academy.

Derby are set to overhaul their midfield this summer and Carlton Palmer believes a move to Pride Park, despite their rivalry with the Reds, would be the right fit.

“Nottingham Forest midfielder Ateef Konate, 23, has taken to social media to say thank you to supporters and staff as he plans to move away from Nottingham Forest next season,” he said for FLW. “It wasn’t the best. move for Ateef. Since joining Forest, he has failed to make a single Premier League appearance.

“The likes of Huddersfield, Sunderland, Derby and Leeds are all looking at Ateef. He will be available on a free transfer and excelled at Le Havre before moving to Nottingham Forest, so he needs to get his career back on track. He has to play football. He is looking at a club where he will be given the opportunity to play football.

“Derby have a complete overhaul with their playing squad. We’ve seen how Sunderland are with young players, but they still don’t have a manager in place. Where would it fit? I think the Derby could be the ideal place for Ateef. It’s right next to Nottingham and Paul Warne works with young players and knows how to get the best out of them, so I think it would be a good move for him.”
