The Premier League has revealed its eight-player shortlist for player of the season nominations – with Man City and Arsenal dominating the names involved.

After an exciting campaign, City and Arsenal go head-to-head for the Premier League crown, with their players also competing for the coveted individual best player award.

It’s no surprise that Cole Palmer is included in the list after his incredible goal-scoring season which saw him net 21 times, but he faces stiff competition from a selection of top players who are chasing the prize.

Erling Haaland won the award last season after finishing the campaign 22-23 as top scorer with 36 goals in 35 games and has continued in that strong vein of ruthlessness in front of goal with another 25 strikes this campaign.

That was more than enough to earn him inclusion on this year’s shortlist – alongside his Man City team-mate Phil Foden.

More to come.
