Barnsley mother admits killing child in Leeds

The five-month-old girl was taken to hospital after she was found injured in a park in December 2023

A mother from Barnsley has admitted killing her five-month-old baby, who was found badly injured in a park in Leeds.

Hayley Macfarlane was arrested on suspicion of murder in December 2023 and admitted infanticide at Leeds Crown Court.

The child, Evelyn, was taken to Woodhouse Moor Park Hospital and later died from her injuries.

Ms Macfarlane, who is 39, is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on June 13.
