Another full round of action this week means clubs will once again worry about potential charges and bans from the RFL’s Match Review Panel in another round of Super League disciplinary drama.

Last week saw Warrington’s George Williams become the only player handed a ban, receiving a one-match penalty notice for dangerous contact at Grade B (top level), meaning he will miss the ” dress rehearsal’ for this weekend’s Challenge Cup. final against Wigan Warriors.

That game, without Williams, resulted in an incredibly close 18-19 defeat for Wolves as despite Stefan Ratchford’s late try and conversion, Harry Smith’s late first-half drop goal proved to be the difference between teams.

It will certainly be the focus of fallout for the Panel’s decisions later on as there have been several incidents which could see players suspended for the trip to Wembley.

The night before saw a top-of-the-table clash between St Helens and Catalans Dragons, with the Saints thrashing the Dragons 24-12 to finally end their five-match losing streak against the team from Catalonia.

The Catalans dominated most of the first half and looked set to win again against the Red Vee, but Konrad Hurrell’s try before half-time and the subsequent onslaught from the Saints proved too much for the traveling side as Mata’utia, Makinson and Lees completed the win.

A short melee during the game could result in penalties from the match review panel.

Huddersfield Giants, in poor form, would have been a target for Simon Grix’s struggling Hull FC side and it looked like they might finally get a few points by the end, eventually going down 24-18 , despite late tries from Logan Moy and Cam Scott. .

Hull KR showed signs of faltering slightly and Leigh Leopards finally began to get into a rhythm after a disappointing start to the season, but the score followed the lead as Rovers, through tries from Tom Opacic and Niall Evalds sealed the score by 12-0. victory.

On derby day, Castleford never got going, making handling errors all over the pitch and allowing a Leeds Rhinos inspired by Brodie Croft and Rhyse Martin to run riot, running out 32-4 winners at Headingley.

It was Marc Sneyd’s show in front of 2,843 as the Red Devils swept London Broncos as Sneyd kicked five goals and set up four tries as he led his side to a 34-4 victory.

Super League Disciplinary Concerns

One side who will be of particular concern are Catalans Dragons and one incident in the game saw the match officials miss what appeared to be a shoulder charge with no attempt to finish from Tariq Sims and this could it had a consequence because the Panel looks at incidents in the game.

Franck Maria let the Catalans down as he was let down for a big shot in the first half, sparking angry responses from the Saints players.

Romain Navarrete and Ben Garcia both paid a lot of attention to Jack Welsby, making contact with his head in the resulting match and could also face action based on that.

Wembley beckons for Wigan Warriors, but there is a chance they will be without several key players.

Adam Keighran was shown a red card for a nasty tackle on Lindop with direct contact with the head. After the game, head coach Matt Peet said he was “disappointed with his actions” but has since backtracked, suggesting it wasn’t as bad as it first appeared.

Meanwhile, Tyler Dupree appeared to head an opposition player in a ball game, while Brad O’Neill’s tackle, which gave Warrington the chance to go 2-0 up, could also have consequences.

Another side of concern will be Salford as Oli Partington, although not penalized at the time, appeared to make contact with the head and Chris Hankinson’s late, also unpunished shot on Hakim Miloudi could be noted by the Panel .
