A child has died in a house fire in Bradford, while four others have been taken to hospital

A child has died and four others have been taken to hospital after a house fire in Bradford.

Emergency services were called to the home in Kingsdale Drive, a street just off Bolton Road, at around 1am.

A woman and three children escaped from the property and were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, West Yorkshire Police said.

A fourth child was found inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene, the force added.

Police and firefighters are working to determine the cause of the fire.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent three crews, two from Bradford and one from Shipley, who used two hose reels and four breathing apparatus to the scene.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At 1.08am this morning (May 5), police were called by firefighters to reports of a serious house fire in Kingsdale Drive, Bradford.

“A woman and three children were able to escape the property and were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

“A fourth child was found at the address and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“A scene is currently at the address and police are working with fire investigators to establish the exact cause of the fire.”
