Coventry homes closed after ‘persistent anti-social behavior and drug dealing’

Three troubled Coventry homes have been closed following reports of “persistent crime and anti-social behaviour”. Police closed off addresses on Heera Close, Stoney Stanton Road and Hampton Road.

Officers have spent the past few weeks working to shut down properties in the city after complaints of anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and cuckooing. All three addresses have now been ordered to be closed for three months by Coventry Magistrates’ Court.

Police closed an address on Heera Close earlier this year after reports of anti-social behavior and drug dealing, as well as concerns that the occupant was being exploited. On Thursday, May 30, it was extended by a further three months after people inside were found to be in “breach” of the conditions, West Midlands Police said.

Officers were said to have recovered stolen property when they searched an address on Stoney Stanton Road in April. It was now closed, no one being allowed in until the end of August.

Police also closed an address on Hampton Road after reports of drug offences, anti-social behavior and cuckooing. On May 23, Coventry Magistrates’ Court granted a three-month closure, banning entry to anyone but the resident.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We work with local authority partners and housing providers to ensure that places are kept safe or arranged while they are vacant, helping to improve the area for people living near. If you are concerned about criminal behavior happening where you live, call us on 101 or use Live Chat on our website. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
