Coventry City and Stoke City are battling Celtic for £4.3m ace Alvyn Sanches

Coventry City and Stoke City are among admirers of Lausanne-Sport midfielder Alvyn Sanches, according to a report from The Express.

Coventry City and Stoke City will be in the market for fresh faces this summer as they look to enjoy more fruitful campaigns next time around.

The Sky Blues missed out on the play-offs after last year’s success, but their journey to the FA Cup semi-finals made this season another memorable one. As for the Potters, they battled relegation for much of the campaign but finished strongly and will be determined to push on.

Business is a must for both, and the Championship duo have a similar goal, it seems.

According to a report from The Express, Swiss prospect Alvyn Sanches has Coventry City and Stoke City among his admirers heading into the transfer window.

The 21-year-old plays for Lausanne-Sport in his hometown and has Celtic on his trail. He is said to be valued at £4.3m and is expected to leave the club for pastures new next season.

Clubs from Germany, France and the Netherlands are also interested.

Sanches can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder or forward. He scored six goals in 27 games last season and is a regular for Switzerland at youth level.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

An early move?

With the report saying Sanches is expected to move on from his club “in the next few weeks”it may not be long before firm moves are made in pursuit of his services.

If Coventry City and Stoke City decide to act in their interest, they could battle it out to sign the attacking midfielder with Celtic and clubs across Europe also keen on Sanches.

The Sky Blues have shown they have money to spend in recent transfer windows and that is likely to be the case again. As for Stoke, Schumacher will be hoping to be backed up in his first summer window in charge of the club.

However, the Potters only embarked on a major rebuild last summer, so it will be intriguing to see how much they have to spend this time around.

The middle of the field ranks

Looking at the teams, there could be room for a player like Sanches at both Coventry City and Stoke City.

Mark Robins looks set to lose Callum O’Hare, so bringing in Sanches would provide a new attacking threat in the middle of the park. As for the Potters, they have Bae Jun-ho but the end of Luke Cundle’s loan and doubts over Daniel Johnson’s future could open the door to an attacking midfielder.

Sanches fits the profile of a versatile midfielder who has been sent up high and the goal threat he provided in Switzerland could make him one to watch in the Championship.

It remains to be seen if the second tier duo move for him, with options open for Sanches.
