The development firm has unveiled a scheme to regenerate the former council office

Cornwall developer Treveth has announced it is to work on plans to regenerate the former Cornwall Council office campus in Truro.

Members of the local community are invited to find out more about Treveth and how the project will benefit Truro at an informal session on Tuesday 18.th June, 1.30pm to 6.30pm, at Truro Community Fire Station, Station Road.

Since its launch in 2019, Treveth has built high quality new homes, sustainable communities and commercial developments in partnership with Cornwall Council to directly benefit the people who live and work in Cornwall.

The Treyew Road scheme, funded by Treveth, will see the developer provide much-needed housing for local residents. These will include 1, 2, 3 and 4 bed homes, offering a range of schemes including open market rent, affordable rent and shared ownership for those who live, work or have family connections in the immediate vicinity of Truro .

It follows other Treveth schemes in Truro, which include The Railway Tavern on Station Road – a mixed-use scheme which plans to create 40-50 student beds in various types of accommodation and 400 sq m of retail space; currently in planning – and Pydar Street, for which Treveth is acting as development manager for the proposed transformation of this part of Truro into a vibrant new neighborhood and destination.

Designs for the Treyew Road regeneration scheme are currently evolving and will be shaped by feedback from community events held over the coming months, ahead of a planning application being submitted for the site.

Emma Rodgers, senior development manager at Treveth, said: “The site at the former Cornwall Council office campus on Treyew Road covers a total of 2.3ha. This will be used to build up to 130 new homes, divided into four phases; the first of these will consist of 50 homes, from 1-bed to 4-bed houses. These homes will be prioritized for people with local connections or those who work in the local area, discouraging second home ownership.

“The presentation session is designed as an opportunity to share information and for local people to meet the team behind the regeneration. We have found this approach to be key to giving us a deeper understanding of the needs of the local community. This helps us shape our future plans and will allow us to consider views that can be incorporated into the regeneration of the former Cornwall Council office campus.”

Informal presentation on the 18thth June will be the first of several community and stakeholder events before the planning application for the Treyew Road site is submitted later this year.

Dates for public consultation events on the planning application, where local residents can receive more information and have a say on the regeneration of the area, will be announced later in the year.

Founded by Cornwall Council in 2019, Treveth now manages 135 properties across 6 developments and 48 units across 10 commercial sites.

Treveth was established to improve the quality of rented accommodation and increase the availability of housing in the rented, shared ownership and private rented sectors for those who live, work or have family connections in close proximity to its sites. Treveth currently has over 286 homes built for local residents in Tolgus, Liskeard, Newquay and Bodmin.

Treveth has successfully managed and sold properties transferred from Cornwall Council, creating thriving communities that include Heathlands View, Bodmin; The Coppers, Tolvaddon and Tregover, Newquay.

The site at Treyew Road was acquired in April 2023 from Cornwall Council and was rezoned subject to securing planning in Phase 1 of the regeneration; with options on phases two, three and four bringing the total number of homes on the site to around 130 homes.
