Mum smashed pint glass over ex-boyfriend after he threw drink on puppy

A woman smashed a pint glass over her ex-boyfriend’s head after a heated row in a Warrington pub.

Linda Lee Gresley-Jones, 48, threw her drink over her ex-partner Lee Fairhurst and hit him with the glass at the Lower Angel pub in Buttermarket Street, Warrington, on July 15, 2023. The pair she had been involved in a bitter argument. , in which Fairhurst first threw his own drink on Gresley-Jones and a puppy he had picked up for a friend.




Fairhurst then turned to leave and as he walked away, Gresley-Jones was seen smashing the glass on the back of his head, causing a three-inch gash. A pub customer who witnessed the attack said the mother-of-seven then “looked panicked” as she said: “I didn’t mean to do that”.

She appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today where she pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm.

It was heard that Gresley-Jones, who has 28 previous convictions for 69 offences, was on police bail at the time of the incident after attacking a 14-year-old girl who she believed had intimidated her daughter – an offense for which she later received a suspended sentence.

Graham Roberts, defending, described the incident as “a spontaneous act following a rather provocative act by Lee Fairhurst”. He said: “She has admitted that what she is admitting to is a very serious offence. He knows what he did was wrong and he is rightly and deeply and sincerely ashamed of acting in this way.
